Join us for an immersive one-day workshop on Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) led by Dr. Allan Abbass, a global psychotherapy expert and graduate of the University of Toronto Psychiatry program. Learn how ISTDP, an evidence-based approach, helps improve clinician efficacy, client psychological capacity, and can improve treatment outcomes.

Why ISTDP? ISTDP is one of the most researched forms of psychodynamic therapy, backed by over 70 randomized controlled trials and more than 100 additional clinical and qualitative research publications. Developed in Canada and internationally recognized, ISTDP has demonstrated success in treating a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Personality disorders

  • Somatic symptom disorders

  • Substance dependence

  • Treatment-resistant depression

ISTDP is also widely used to build capacity in patients with severe mental disorders. With over 30 studies showcasing its effectiveness, ISTDP has been proven to reduce healthcare utilization and lower disability costs, making it one of the most cost-efficient approaches in psychotherapy today.

What to Expect: This workshop will provide an in-depth exploration of ISTDP’s theoretical foundations, metapsychology, psychodiagnostic assessment, and treatment procedures. Dr. Abbass will illustrate key concepts with real clinical examples through extensive video recordings of actual treatment sessions and facilitate case discussions to deepen your understanding of the approach.
